CEO of the Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business & Management, Dr Dion Greenidge defines entrepreneurship as "the process of developing and creating a business venture with the aim of generating income, employment or innovative change in a specific market or industry. It involves the ability to identify new opportunities and areas of need where one can set up a new business that facilitates new value creation of a product and/or service. As such entrepreneurship is integral to the development of a sustainable and resilient economy".
Innovate Cave Hill brings together five entities from across the Campus to provide strategic support to researchers and those who have a business idea. Support such as: business planning, IP management, legal services, partnering with industry, access to capital, and any other services required to complete the commercialisation process.

Once you have discovered something novel, you are required to let the University know through this Committee before announcing your novelty in the public domain. This is a requirement of the UWI Intellectual Property and Commercialisation Policy. Using that Policy, the Committee will determine rights to the intellectual property and in discussion with you, the suitable method of commercialiation. Office of Business Development (OBD)If you have an income generating idea that does not necessarily come from a research project, the Office of Business Development will assist you along the commercialisation process. Look out for the biannual innovation competition for staff. Training and mentoring is provided for candidates in the competition, who develop a business plan and pitch their plan for a chance to win start-up funding. RICCH will also work very closely with you to develop prototypes, seek funding, find partners, facilite legal matters and any other assistance needed to commercialise your novel finding.
