Professor Clive Landis Principal
R Clive Landis assumed the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in August 01, 2021 and is a Professor of Cardiovascular Research. Professor Landis has published over 150 scientific papers and conference presentations, the majority arising from research conducted at the Edmund Cohen Vascular Research Laboratory that he founded as an annex at the George Alleyne Chronic Disease Research Centre (GA-CDRC). His research has focused on the role of inflammation during wound healing, vascular disease, and recovery post-surgery. Professor Landis’ interest in HIV has revolved around the Immunology PhD programme that he founded at Cave Hill as well as a sixteen-year collaboration with the public HIV laboratory. He has published joint scientific papers with the Ministry of Health and Wellness and accepted appointment as Honorary Director of the government HIV laboratory from 2011–2018. Together with his experience as a senior university administrator, Professor Landis brings an imbued sense of the importance to place students at the centre of all the University does, along with a distinguished track record of teaching, research, and outreach.

Professor Winston Moore, Deputy Principal
Winston Moore is presently Professor of Economics and Deputy Principal at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. Since joining the University he has also been the Head of the Department of Economics and the Director of the School for Graduate Studies and Research. Professor Moore is a very active public commentator on issues related to national development and is a former President of the Barbados Economics Society. His recent research has examined the issues surrounding the green economy, private sector development as well as the economic impact of climate change on tourism. Professor Moore has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, books and book chapters. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Surrey; a MSc in Economics from the University of Warwick; and, a BSc in economics from the University of West Indies, Cave Hill.

Dr. Antonius R. Hippolyte: Interim Dean, Faculty of Law
Antonius is currently a Lecturer of Law at the University of the West Indies at the Cavehill Campus. Prior to joining Cavehill, Antonius was a co-owner of a Manchester U.K.-based legal consultancy and an aspiring politician in his native Saint Lucia. He also served as the research advisor to the BVI International Arbitration Centre from 2016 to 2017.

Dr. Ché Corbin: Local Director of the Confucius Institute (Barbados)
Dr. Corbin serves as the Local Director of the Confucius Institute at the Cave Hill Campus,and Advisor to the Vice Chancellor, working with colleagues to develop Sino-Caribbean educational and cultural initiatives since he participated in the founding of the Institute in 2015. His eight years living and studying in China, where he completed his degree in clinical Traditional Chinese Medicine in Mandarin at Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, gave him linguistic fluency and deep exposure to Chinese cultural practices that shape his approach to cross-cultural dialogue. As a certified Chinese language instructor with clinical experience in traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and Taichi instruction, Dr. Corbin brings together scholarly expertise and authentic cultural understanding to support educational exchange and intercultural scholarship. His work has complemented other UWI initiatives in China collaboration, including the UWI China Institute of Information Technology (UWICIIT). He welcomes opportunities to work with colleagues across disciplines on research partnerships, comparative studies, and interdisciplinary projects that strengthen academic ties between the Caribbean and China while supporting the University’s international engagement goals.
CUPL President MA Huaide
Professor MA Huaide was born in October 1965. He graduated from China University of Political Science and Law with a degree of Doctor of Laws. He is a Ph.D. supervisor.
He is currently President and Vice Chair of CUPL Council. He has participated in the drafting of many important national laws of China, such as the Law on National Compensation, the Law on Administrative Penalty, the Legislative Law, and the Administrative Permission Law.
CUPL Council Vice-Chair GANG Wenzhe
Professor GANG Wenzhe was born in January 1965. He graduated from China University of Petroleum (Beijing) with a degree of Doctor of Engineering. He is a Ph.D. supervisor. He is currently Vice Chair of CUPL Council and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection. He was engaged in teaching and scientific research in oil and gas geology and organic geochemistry.
CUPL Vice-President LU Chunlong
Professor LU Chunlong was born in April 1976. He graduated from Old Dominion University with a Ph.D. degree in Political Science. He is currently Vice President and Vice Chair of the University Council. He is responsible for the work of graduate education, international cooperation, and E-Campus construction.
Professor Yang Xiuqing
Professor YANG Xiuqing is the Chair of the School Council, Executive Dean, and doctoral supervisor of Civil Commercial and Economic Law School (CUPL). Also, she is the Deputy Director of the People’s Court Judicial Reform Research Base (CUPL), the Vice President of Chinese Civil Procedure Law Research Association of China Law Society, the Standing Director of China Academy of Arbitration Law, and a Member of China Behavior Law Association Execution Behavior Research Association.
Professor YANG’s main research areas are civil procedure law and arbitration law. She has published monographs such as

Dr. Lyu Yong
Dr. LYU Yong, holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the School of Political Science and Public Administration at China University of Political Science and Law. Currently, he is the Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office.
Ms. Xu Dan: Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute (Barbados)
DAN Xu has a robust academic foundation, with degrees in English, Law, and International Comparative Education. Her career includes a significant tenure at the China University of Political Science and Law, where from 2002 to 2018, she managed various international programs, including collaborations with Temple University and summer programs with universities in the USA and Australia. As Vice Dean from July 2018 to July 2023, at the School of International Education, she oversaw international student affairs and cooperative education programs. Additionally, DAN Xu has participated in study programs worldwide, enhancing her insight into international education. Her expertise and commitment make her a vital asset to the Confucius Institute.
