Bio

Nitha Mauricette-Philip, is a Research Assistant at the Caribbean Research Center at the University of the West Indies, Cavehill. She was born in Anse- La- Raye, St Lucia. She is currently pursuing Doctoral Studies in Education. She holds a B Ed in Secondary Mathematics Education, Mona Campus, University of the West Indies, Jamaica and graduated with distinction with a M Ed in Mathematics from Lesley University, Cambridge MA, USA. She is also a Certified Business professional in the field of Project Management. Before joining the team at the Caribbean Research Center; Nitha was the Head of the Pre College/ University Unit at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, St Lucia. Nitha has been a Mathematics Educator for over 22 years, and a teacher trainer for over 15 years.  Her Research Interest: Mathematics teaching and learning – in particular, how culturally responsive standardized mathematics diagnostic tools and remediation can impact mathematics achievement.
