Three Postgraduate Students from the University of West Indies and University of Zululand will be presenting their research projects. Mrs. Paula Alleyne holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master of Science in Project Management, is internationally certified in Project Management with the Project Management Institute and is presently a PhD candidate with the School of Education in the Caribbean Educational Research Centre. Mrs. Alleyne’s research is on "Psychosocial Realities of Care Leaves and Implications for Educational Attainment". Mrs Nitha Mauricette-Philip is an experienced Mathematics lecturer at The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, in St Lucia. She has been an educator for over 25 years and a teacher Educator for 17 years. Her presentation is "A Mixed Method Study Investigating Caribbean Teacher's Concepts". Mr Garbriel Mahaye, PhD candidate from University of Zululand presented his topic of "Improving participation of educator governors in school governance at three public farm schools in Amajuba education district. Prof Kevin Washington (Mwata Kairi) is an Afrikan-Centered psychologist licensed in Florida and Washington, DC lecturer and activist who champions the humanity of dispossessed and marginalized people. Mwata has also worked closely with The Boris L. Henson foundation in developing their cultural competency training for addressing the mental health concerns of people of Afrikan descent He has taught/lectured at several colleges and universities nationally and internationally. He is now an adjunct professor at the Harris-Stowe State University. His topic will be "Ubuntu Psychotherapy in the Healing of the Afrikan Spirit/Spirit"
Ms April Martinez is from Belmopan, Belize. Her research has focused on ethics in archaeology, primarily surrounding how we approach human remains and the sensitivity involving ancient mortuary/funerary practices. She joined the University of Belize in 2017 as an Adjunct Lecturer and became a full-time History & Anthropology lecturer in 2018. Her task has been to establish an Anthropology program at the University to create more versatile social science options for Belizeans. Dr Tiffany Bonds Mason is an educator and school administrator with 29 years of experience. She finds that working directly with families and school programs is most rewarding. Over the course of this time, she taught children in the classroom, been a building administrator and district level administrator for a school district that seeks to educate approximately 115,000 students every year. She received her degrees from Morgan State University (Bachelor's), Notre Dame (Master's) and Seton Hall (Doctorate) Universities. Over the years, she has received citations from the governor of the state of Maryland, the Maryland General Assembly, Senator Verna Jones Rodwell, and more. Dr Bonds Mason has been named the Outstanding School Administrator in Gifted and Talented Education and was recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education for her school's performance. Dr Fenji-Materechera-Mitochi is a postdoc fellow at the Institute for Water Research, Rhodes University, South Africa. Her primary research training is in human geography and environmental sciences with broader research interests around sustainability science, agricultural farming systems, food systems, governance in agricultural systems and the application of systems analysis as a tool to solve complex problems. Her current seminar is on “Navigating science communication as an early career researcher: Reflections from an African sustainability science researcher”
Dr. Gwen Nuñez Gonzalez was born in Hopkins Village, Belize to Julia and Victoriano Nuñez. She values education and hence her quest to obtain a Doctorate in Higher Education and Organizational Leadership from Nova South Eastern University. She is passionate about Language preservation and created a publication business “GNG Publications” and Furendei Garifuna Online School to teach Garifuna Language in a fun-filled way. Presently, Dr. Gwen is the Operational Manager for The Yurumein Project, trainer for the facilitators is the Co-Chair of the Garifuna Language Commission. Her topic will be on "Garifuna Preservation Efforts: Intercultural Bilingual Effort and Language Preservation".

His research focuses on race, education, the work and lives of Black male educators, and best practices for advancing teacher diversity in the United States. His research has been recognized by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the American Educational Research Association, the Critical Race Studies in Education Association, and the University of the Free State in South Africa This is part one (1) of his presentation "Critical Race Theory Under Assault Strategies for Continuing to Fight the Good Fight in the Academy"
