Dr. Cristina Jönsson

Lecturer in Tourism and Hospitality Management

Dr. Cristina Jönsson is a Lecturer in Tourism at the  Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management. Originally from Sweden, she is a polyglot who speaks English, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and French.  Prior to coming to the Cave Hill Campus, Dr. Jönsson amassed significant practical experience in the European tourism industry.  She served as Regional Tourism Development Manager in Sweden, where she wss tasked with crafting a tourism master plan for the municipal government. Dr. Jönsson's technical knowledge and language expertise have created several consulting opportunities in  Europe, Australasia and the Caribbean, for both public and private sector entities. Her research interests and peer reviewed publications are primarily in the areas of foreign direct investment in the tourism sector, sports tourism and sustainable tourism planning and development. Dr. Jönsson has been appointed to the Editorial Board of the Consortium Journal of Hospitality and Tourism and has served as reviewer for several international journals. She is a food connoisseur of sorts, and is always appreciative of a first class dining experience.
