Labour and Employment Relations (ONLINE)

About the Programme

Graduates of the MSc. Labour and Employment Relations programme are equipped to develop policies and procedures to achieve effective social and economic partnerships between the government, the private sector, the labour force and its representative trade unions. This course of study also delivers the knowledge and skills to facilitate labour-employment relations and negotiations at the level of policy and in the day to day workplace environment.  

You will discover:

  • the tools and techniques for crafting labour and employment relations policies that facilitate and maintain efficacious social and economic partnerships in a dynamic global environment.
  • how to negotiate at both the workplace and policy development levels.
  • the key aspects of Caribbean and international labour law.
  • contemporary compensation and human resources management techniques which promote the psychosocial and financial interests of both employer and employee. 

Research

Our Faculty’s research in Human Resources Management has had local, regional and global impact.
 
  • Professor Dwayne Devonish has expertise in the area of strategic planning and employee wellness and is presently working alongside trade union leaders to establish a National Workplace Wellness Policy. 
  • Dr. Akhentoolove Corbin has expertise in the area of leadership and has researched the role of leadership in the success/failure of West Indies Cricket Teams.
  • Dr. Dion Greenidge has expertise in psychometric assessment. He developed the Hierarchical Personality Assessment Questionnaire (HIPAQ) which has been translated into Mandarin and has placed him in demand internationally.
