About the Programme

Then the B.Sc. Social Sciences programme may be right for you. This interdisciplinary programme allows you to pursue three (3) minors drawn from disciplines offered under the Faculty of Social Sciences and its’ affiliates.

Suppose you have an interest in pursuing Criminology, Sociology and Management. Or maybe the combination of Economics, Political Science and International Relations appeals to you. The B.Sc. Social Sciences degree allows you the opportunity to pursue these combinations.

Are you interested in a career as a researcher? With the right combination of courses you can hone your research skills in this programme.

With the additional flexibility of five (5) free elective courses in Level 3 of this programme you can choose courses from most of the disciplines offered on campus or take courses to broaden your knowledge of the subject area in which you are most interested.

LEVELS II AND III

Sixty (60) credits as follows

1.Three minors (five courses for each minor) drawn from the following subject areas (45 credits):

Sociology
Sustainable Energy Management

2. Any Five Level II, or III courses (15 credits) of the students’ choice. These are not restricted to Faculty of Social Sciences courses.

Three Year Programme

  • Minimum of five (5) CXC CSEC General Proficiency (Grades I-III) or GCE O-Level subjects which must include English Language and either one of the following:

a Foreign Language, Mathematics, Geography or an approved Science subject.

  • Passes in at least two, two-unit CAPE subjects or two GCE A-Level subjects or the equivalent.

OR

  • An Associate Degree from an approved tertiary level institution with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5 or above.

Four-Year Programme

  • Minimum of five (5) CXC CSEC General Proficiency (Grades I-III) or GCE O-Level subjects, which must include English Language and either one of the following: a Foreign Language, Mathematics, Geography, or an approved Science subject.
