Research

Our faculty does research across the discipline of Linguistics. We focus on Creole Linguistics and Applied Linguistics with a special interest in the languages and dialects of the Caribbean islands.

Courses are taught in the evening, from 4 pm onward, to accommodate anyone already working.

  • Duration: MA: 1 year (FT) or 2 years (PT) (obligatory for Descriptive Linguistics); M.Phil: 3 years (FT) or 5 years (PT); PhD: 5 years (FT) or 7 yrs (PT)

Programme Details

6 courses approved by the Faculty of Humanities & Education must be taken.  
 
You will do courses in: 
  1. the history of Linguistics and any 1 of the following tracks: 
  1. Descriptive Linguistics  
  1. Sociolinguistics 
  1. Applied Linguistics  
  1. Caribbean Lexicography
