About the Programme

Philosophy is concerned with sustained reflection on central questions of human existence and experience. It provides an opportunity for the study of, and reflection on, questions which have puzzled and concerned us, like:

• Who are you and why are you here?
• How should you treat others?
• What is the best way to organise society?

What Will I Study?

The Philosophy Major you are undertaking requires you to complete at least 36 credits (12 courses)

By studying Philosophy, you will gain invaluable transferable skills such as:

• developing your capacity to use critical thinking skills;
• being open to new ideas and ways of thinking;
• unearthing assumptions and nuances in arguments that may not be seen by others; and
• being able to coherently express your ideas orally or in writing.
