Accessing Your Course in MyCaveHill eLearning

Good day Colleagues,

The CETL is happy to welcome you to the new academic year and semester (2026/2027, Semester 1), and announce the official launch of its first blog site and blog post! We also thank and congratulate you on your hard work, that has allowed the university to thrive thus far, despite unprecedented times!  This semester, the university campus continues its face-to-face and/or blended course delivery. To that end, myCaveHill eLearning is still integral. Whether your course is face-to-face, blended or online, myCaveHill eLearning is an essential technology space that further helps you in communicating, engaging and assessing your students. For those of you who may/may not have heard about myCaveHill eLearning, but probably do not know what it is, or how to access your course in this environment, this post is for you! Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We have provided some information that would help you.

A – What is MyCaveHill eLearning?

MyCaveHill eLearning is the campus’s primary platform for online, blended or technology-mediated teaching and learning. It is a learning management system (LMS) that facilitates course delivery, assessments, communication and activities. Moreover, the platform allows you to upload your course content, and create Zoom sessions for synchronous/asynchronous teaching. To access your course site/containers in MyCaveHill eLearning, you must have:

 

1.     A valid UWI contract

2.     Staff Credentials (Network ID & Password ) e.g

·       UserName: 20004×25
Password: myPassword123

3.     Access to UWI Staff Microsoft 365 Account

·       e.g john.sample@uwi.edu

4.     Courses assigned on the official timetable

 

 

B – How do I verify & access my courses on MyCaveHill eLearning?

Once students register for your course on the timetable (via Cave Hill Online (CHOL), they are automatically be enrolled/unenrolled in your MyCaveHill eLearning course container. It is therefore important that you access banner to verify your course assignments & class lists (i.e. students registered/enrolled in your course(s)) and also access your course container in MyCaveHill eLearning. The following resources will guide you in accessing and navigating through Banner and myCaveHill eLearning and locating your course:

C – MyCaveHill eLearning Training and Support?

Throughout the semester, the CETL will host various synchronous and asynchronous avenues to provide you with further training and support in the use of MyCaveHill eLearning, Zoom and other Information communication technologies, educational research, and best practices in teaching excellence. To that end, the CETL is happy to invite all new faculty and anyone interested in its upcoming online workshop:

 

Workshop Title: An Orientation to myCaveHill eLearning

 

Date: Tuesday 8th September, 2026 @ 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

 

Venue: Online (Zoom)

 

Description: Are you a new lecturer preparing to teach at Cave Hill? Join us for an interactive two-hour workshop designed to help you confidently access, navigate, and use MyCaveHill eLearning to support your teaching and learning activities. During this practical session, you will learn how to manage your online course sites, upload learning materials, communicate with students, create assessments and activities, and track student engagement using MyCaveHill eLearning’s powerful tools. Whether you are new to online learning platforms or looking to strengthen your digital teaching skills, this workshop will provide the foundational knowledge needed to effectively deliver your courses in the MyCaveHill eLearning environment. Workshop Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1.    Navigate the MyCaveHill eLearning platform using their university credentials.

2.    Manage course containers within the Cave Hill MyCaveHill eLearning environment.

3.    Manage learning activities such as assignments, forums, quizzes, and announcements.

4.    Communicate effectively with students using MyCaveHill eLearning’s built-in communication tools.

5.    Monitor student participation and engagement through activity reports and course tracking features.

6.    Access available support resources and services for ongoing MyCaveHill eLearning assistance and professional development.
