{"id":15,"date":"2021-04-23T16:26:03","date_gmt":"2021-04-23T20:26:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/summerschool\/regulations\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T18:33:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T22:33:05","slug":"regulations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/summerschool\/regulations\/","title":{"rendered":"Regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"container-fluid page-wrapper\">\n<section>\n<div id=\"dept_content\">\n<div id=\"sub_content\" class=\"bodytext\">\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h1 class=\"page-header\">Regulations<\/h1>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Regulations Governing Registration<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n\t\t\t\t\tEach student may take a <strong>MAXIMUM<\/strong> of <strong>THREE<\/strong> courses offered in one or more Faculties and are required to ensure that these courses do not clash.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Credit\/Exemptions<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<ul>\n<li>Summer School students who have not been offered a place at the University are not granted automatic acceptance into any Faculty of the University.<\/li>\n<li>Registered students of the University including those on approved leave of absence shall be given credit for courses successfully completed at the Summer School. Unless they register expressly not for credit, students may not subsequently have such credit altered.<\/li>\n<li>Non-UWI students who are accepted into the University may be granted credit\/exemption for courses successfully completed in the Summer School provided that five (5) years have not elapsed since the completion of the relevant course(s).<\/li>\n<li>Non-UWI students who have not met normal or lower level Matriculation requirements, are not eligible to receive credit for courses passed at Summer School.<\/li>\n<li>Students who have been required to withdraw from the University in keeping with University or Faculty regulations concerning the minimum number of courses to be passed by the academic year will not be granted credit for any course passed during the ensuing Summer School.<\/li>\n<li>Failure in any course will be recorded in the student&#8217;s academic record just as Semester courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Refund Policy<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n\t\t\t\t\tRegistration fees will be refunded in full <strong>ONLY <\/strong>where:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the University withdraws a course for which students have registered;<\/li>\n<li>a student had registered for a Summer course before he\/she was notified of a pass in that course at the Semester II examinations;<\/li>\n<li>a student is required to withdraw from the University as specified in Regulation 7 above;<\/li>\n<li>a student withdraws before Summer School commences.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Withdrawal from Courses<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n\t\t\t\t\tSummer School students may apply to withdraw from a course(s) within the registration period, without penalty\/ no later&nbsp; A<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tA penalty shall be instituted as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>25% of fees beginning the second week of teaching.<\/li>\n<li>30% of fees will beginning the third week of teaching.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\tAfter the third week of teaching, students who withdraw from a course(s), <strong>WILL NOT BE REFUNDED<\/strong>.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Cancellation of Courses<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tIf enrolment for a particular course is insufficient, it may be cancelled.
