Online Orientation

Time: Available online 24 hours daily
Details: The Online Orientation is the first step of the orientation process for new students. New students will be able to access information on the University’s resources, services, policies, clubs, societies and associations, in a fun entertaining way. After completing the virtual orientation, new students can take part in pop up quizzes where prizes can be won.

New Undergraduate Student Orientation Forum

The orientation forum gives you the opportunity to meet persons from key departments who will provide you with further information about the five main dimensions of the New Student Experience that will help you to know where to locate information about:
  • The UWI Educational Experience
  • Student resources
  • Registration and payment of fees
  • Campus life and engagement opportunities

Post Graduate Orientation

Details: This Orientation session is for all new post graduate students in face-to-face programmes. Programme Coordinators will be in attendance to provide academic counselling.

Parents and Partners Orientation

Details: This orientation for parents and partners of new undergraduate and postgraduate students provides the opportunity to interact with staff and faculty, get answers to questions about university life and receive useful advice on the type of support that will be necessary and ways in which they can assist.

Commencement Service
Details: A Multi-Faith Commencement Service is held to mark the official start of the Academic Year.  We hope to see you all there!

Resident Life Workshop (all new Hall residents)
Details: This workshop is designed to encourage new students living in shared spaces to build diverse relationships and understand the importance of engaging in student activities which make the transition to a new living environment much easier. Topics such as Cultural Adaptation, Conflict Resolution, Housekeeping, Health & Safety and Healthy Eating on a Budget are areas covered during this very informative and exciting session.

Orientation Fair & ICC Expo
Details: The Orientation Fair marks the culmination of the New Student Orientation activities. This extravaganza offers new students the opportunity to access information on the various amenities, services and products available to them throughout their stay here at UWI Cave Hill.  Service providers (e.g. phone companies, banks) small businesses, along with student clubs, societies and island associations, showcase their products in a festive, fun-filled atmosphere marked by entertainment and give-aways. This activity is a student-centered event not to be missed!

First Year Experience Launch

Details: Strictly First Years is a preparatory course intended to help new undergraduate students
understand the goals of higher education, take personal responsibility for their own success,
become effective students and develop social, personal and interpersonal skills.
