Study Hall

The athletic study hall program is designed to provide an objectives-based structured study environment leading to academic success for UWI Blackbird student-athletes.  The main purpose of these study hall sessions is to develop consistent, appropriate, and effective study habits. Study hall sessions are monitored so that students-athletes can work uninterrupted.

  • Upon entering the Academy of Sport, student-athletes are required to sign-in at the reception area. You are also expected to sign-out when leaving study hall.
  • Study hall hours are recorded for the week beginning Monday and ending on Friday.

If a student-athlete does not adhere to the following rules, he or she will be asked to leave study hall. In order to promote a more conducive learning environment, the following rules must be observed:
  • Cell phones must be silenced/turned off upon entry to create the best learning environment possible. All cellular phone conversations must be taken outside of the study hall room.
  • PLAN AHEAD! Arrive prepared with books, notebooks, or other materials needed for your study time.
  • Do not sign in or out for anyone but yourself.
  • Group projects and/or studying together may occur with approval, but must be kept quiet in order to keep a positive studying environment.
  • Headphones/ear buds may be used. The music level must be kept to a minimum so as not to disrupt fellow students.
  • Proper attire must be worn. Remember if you dress for success now it’s half the job already done.
  • There will be no eating or drinking in study hall at anytime.
  • No sleeping at any time.
  • If you are the last one leaving the room, please turn off the lights and the AC.
