About the Society

The Sports Science Society is a student organisation at the University of West Indies Cave Hill Campus. The society seeks to serve all students within the UWI Faculty of Sport assisting with the needs of each student while seeking to enhance the student experience while on campus.

As the first of its kind in Barbados, the society was founded in 2019 by Mr. Taahir Bulbulia, who then served as the first Faculty of Sport Representative on the Guild of Students. However, the Society was a brain child of former student Mr. Trey Hart and the now Head of the Academy of Sport Dr. Rudolph Alleyne back in 2013. In 2018 under the close guidance of Dr. Alleyne, Taahir Bulbulia bore the responsibility to finish what his colleague started. He delivered on this promise on October 14th 2019, a historic night at the Academy of Sport. The Sport Science Society was launched with over 100 persons attending where the The Honourable John King MP (then Minister of Sports) presented the featured address. It was certainly a dream come through for many that night.

The Society will continue to grow from strength to strength and will maintain to be the voice of the sports faculty students at the University of the West Indies.
