Given its penchant for revolutionizing the sporting landscape of Barbados, the Academy of Sport has unveiled its latest addition in the form of the BSc. Sport Coaching Programme. It was officially launched on May 26
th, 2021 where the Academy’s Head, Dr. Rudolph Alleyne, gave a brief overview of what the programme will entail and the value it will add to the island’s current and aspiring coaches.
Without a doubt, Barbados has been blessed with natural ability when it comes to the nurturing of talent and this new programme will no doubt elevate our coaching resources to another level. The wide-ranging scope of the programme will allow participants to cover topics such as Fundamentals of Sport Coaching, Planning and Periodization and Decision Training and will guarantee that individuals are well-equipped to handle the rigours associated with Coaching as a profession.
Since the new BSc. Sport Coaching Programme was announced, the response thus far has been encouraging and has seen a number of Barbados’ most prominent coaches expressing an interest in being a part of the first cohort set to begin in Semester I 2021/2022. The excitement associated with this new programme offering marks yet another level that the Academy has achieved and highlights the upward trajectory that it continues upon.
