The UWI Cave Hill Blackbirds Sport Club


About the Club

The UWI Cave Hill Blackbirds Sport Club is the official club that caters for all sporting needs at the Cave Hill Campus, with a variety of disciplines. It was established to:
  • Develop the sporting culture at UWI Cave Hill
  • Effectively manage and coordinate the business of all sporting teams within UWI Cave Hill
  • Foster stronger relations amongst all sports and clubs on campus
  • Encourage team work and leadership
  • Contribute to the overall development of sport, locally, regionally and internationally


The Executive Committee

The Annual General Meeting

An annual general meeting shall be held the 2nd week of September and shall:
  • Receive all accounts for the previous year ending July 31st
  • Discuss the calendar for the entire year
  • Elect the sub-committees as it sees fit, from time to time


Sub-Committees

Sub-committees shall be established by the Executive Committee when needed. The mandated sub-committees are:
  • Fundraising and Awards Committee
  • Community Outreach and PRO Committee
    • Wings Volunteer (Sub-Committee)
  • Social and Recreational Committee
  • Disciplinary Committee
  • Sub-committee for the coaches and the athletes where they can have a forum to address any concerns or initiatives they may have. (Athletes, Coaches Committee(ACC))
  • Health and Safety Committee
  • Membership and Youth Development Committee
(The committees shall comprise students, staff and bona fide club members only)


Membership

Membership for the club is open to UWI affiliates (students, alumni, staff) and non-UWI affiliates, however, the general membership of the club is 80% UWI affiliates and 20% non-UWI affiliates. Membership fees are as follows:

Alumni  Any person who would have successfully read for any degree or certificate programme at the UWI  $200/year or $20/month  $100 
Staff  Any person currently full time or part-time as recognised by the Human Resources department of the UWI  $200/year or $20/month 
 		 $100 
Non-UWI Affiliates  Anyone who doesn’t fit the above profiles above the age of 16 years old 
 		 $250/year or $25/month  $100 
Social  Any person who wishes to be affiliated with club but not in a competitive manner  $100/year or $10/month  N/A
