The Sidney Martin Inter library loan service (ILL) facilitates the loan of material from other libraries to faculty, staff and post graduate students at the UWI Cave Hill campus. Items are loaned through ILL to local, regional and international libraries. Depending on the availability and the location of the lending library, items may take between 4-6 weeks to arrive. Patrons are contacted on arrival of items and are requested to collect the material from the Circulation Desk.
What can be borrowed and loaned
The following items can be borrowed on Inter library loan: Books, Book Chapters, Journal Articles, Newspapers Articles, Conference papers. The library does not lend theses, audio-visual material, full issues of journals, special collection items, rare, fragile or expensive material. Many libraries also restrict loan of these items.

Patrons are asked to provide exact bibliographical details for items. e .g. Author, title of article, volume and issue of article, title of book, conference name and title of conference paper and page numbers are required. Before submitting an inter-library loan request , the library’s catalogue

. Please note that borrowers will be required to sign a copyright declaration form.
Is there a cost to borrow?
Patrons will be required to pay a fee of
BDS$20.00 for all items sourced on their behalf, except books. Full payment must be made for articles etc, before the item is released. Payment may be required for books to cover airmail and insurance costs.
What is the length of loan period?
The loan period is usually determined by the lending library and may range from four- six weeks. Loans can be extended or renewed however; loan extensions are granted at the discretion of the lending library. Any restrictions on use of material loaned e.g. (item cannot leave the host library) will also be indicated by the lending library.
