We at The Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management, University of the West Indies (SCHSBM) know that the major concern for some prospective and current university students is access to adequate financing. The UWI is firmly committed to finding new avenues of financial support for our students, and several initiatives have either been developed or revamped in the last decade to make a UWI degree affordable to all.
Some of these initiatives include:
- The UWI Payment Plan
- Partial Tuition Waivers for both undergraduate and graduate students which allow recipients to amass significant work experience in the academic environment
- Scholarship Marketing to private sector, public sector and multilateral agencies across the region to encourage the establishment of both need-based and achievement-based scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Several scholarship funds have come on board, and are committed to long term support.
- Academic and Co-curricular Bursaries
- The Hardship and Emergency Fund
- The negotiation of the award of Government of Barbados Scholarship to students pursuing postgraduate degrees in ‘Areas of National Significance’.
- Graduate Studies Research Awards for students pursuing postgraduate research degrees such as the MPhil or the PhD.
The Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management has also innovated to enhance the value offered to students. The fees for our highly rated taught Masters programmes are internationally competitive.
A significant number of our programmes also provide enrolees with free textbooks and a new laptop as part of their programme fee. An increasing number of our programmes are now offered fully online or in hybrid format to afford regional and global students the opportunity to pursue graduate education while living and working in their home countries.
