She is one of the mostly highly rated lecturers at the Cave Hill Campus, and in 2020 received the Principal's Award for Excellence in Teaching. In the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Gay was instrumental in helping the Cave Hill Campus to speedily and successfully navigate the transition to blended and online teaching.

Currently, her research focuses on  e-learning readiness and the deployment of information technology in the university environment. However, having come out of the Faculty of Science and Technology,  Dr. Gay's early research career was dedicated to the study of the diseases plaguing the people of the Caribbean region.

Dr. Gay's expertise in information systems and teaching and learning is shared with the Caribbean educational community. She has held several leadership and administrative roles with the Caribbean Examinations Council, and more recently with the TVET Council. Students and staff at the Cave Hill Campus  all agree on her ready smile and calm, engaging personality.
