About the Programme

Tourism is the mainstay of several economies across the globe and is becoming a significant contributor to GDP for others as new variations of the tourism product emerge. The International Tourism Management with French degree will provide the knowhow to manage tourism in a global context while equipping you with the skills to converse in French, one of the world's top five languages in terms of number of speakers.  This degree opens doors in locations such as Africa, Europe and the Caribbean.

What Will I Study?

You will discover:

  • The dynamics of the international tourism sector.
  • How to work with stakeholders to develop effective tourism policy.
  • How to market the tourism sector.
  • How to evaluate international tourism practices within their cultural, political, and economic contexts.
  • How to develop the tourism industry while protecting the environment, people, and culture.
  • How to market products and services across differing geographical markets.
  • How to communicate effectively in the French business world.
  • The fundamentals of French culture.

Research

Our Faculty conducts research in a wide cross-section of areas related to Tourism and Hospitality, including sustainable tourism development and foreign direct investment in tourism.

The Co-ordinator of the programme, Dr. Sherma Roberts is the primary author of the text ‘Contemporary Caribbean Tourism Concepts and Cases’ which is the signal foundation text for the Caribbean Secondary Examinations Council (CSEC) qualification in Tourism Studies.

Tourism Lecturer Dr. Cristina J├Ânsson has served as a regional tourism manager in Sweden, and prepared and executed a tourism master plan on behalf of a municipal government in Europe.
