Entry Requirements for Degreed Applicants
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a university or college acceptable to the University of the West Indies, with at least Second Class Honours.
Students are expected to have a good grounding in a computer-related subject such as information technology or computer science and/or a grounding in business, management, management science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a quantitative social science. Students who are adjudged to have an insufficient background in an information technology, computer science, business, economics, statistics or management discipline may still qualify for entry into the programme, but will be required to pursue a preliminary year of study before the MSc. Management Information Systems courses are pursued.
Students with 'Pass' degrees will be considered on the following conditions:
(a) they are currently working in an Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Statistics, Economics or Management related field, and;
(b) they are successful at an interview conducted by the entrance committee within the Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management.
Two letters of recommendation must be provided by all degreed applicants.
Entry Requirements for Non-Degreed Applicants
The Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management is considering opening its doors to a restricted number of individuals from the private sector who have relevant experience but no undergraduate degree. It is expected that the number of students entering the programme through this route would be highly restricted and should represent no more than 25 percent of the cohort in any given year. Students entering through this route may be required to undertake a preliminary year of study.
The entry criteria for these students would therefore be:
- Technical certificates or diplomas that can be assessed by the University of the West Indies.
- Five years’ experience in an Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistical, Economic or Management-related field.
- They are successful at an interview conducted by a selected panel determined by the Campus Committee on Graduate Studies and the Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management.
- Two letters of recommendation are provided.
