About the Programme

The EMBA is designed to meet the needs of people of mixed generational backgrounds who have a penchant for innovation and creativity. Such people are desirous of shifting from being an employee in a salaried position to becoming an owner/operator of business and to take control of their income-earning capacity. It is for people who wish to make a difference in the status quo of Caribbean business and who wish to know how to identify gaps and how to go about filling them. It answers the call of governments in LDCs (lesser developed countries) as well as developed countries asking for the pursuit of entrepreneurial endeavours that will reduce the unemployment rate, increase productivity boost export, enhance GDP and generally increase the quality of life. This programme is designed for people who are already self-employed or seeking to venture into self-employment.

Learning Objectives

  • Develop a deep understanding of entrepreneurship and the skills necessary to successfully launch, grow, and manage a business.
  •  Gain knowledge about financial management, accounting, and business strategy necessary to create a sustainable business model.
  •  Learn to identify and analyse potential business opportunities, as well as to conduct market research and develop effective marketing strategies.
  •  Enhance communication and leadership skills necessary to manage a diverse team and foster innovation.
  •  Build a strong network of contacts and mentors in the field of entrepreneurship.
  •  Understand how to navigate regulatory and legal challenges associated with starting and growing a business.
  •  Learn about the impact of technology on entrepreneurship, including the role of social media, e-commerce, and other digital tools.
  •  Develop a global perspective on entrepreneurship and learn how to expand a business internationally.
  •  Understand the ethical and social responsibilities of entrepreneurship and how to operate a business in a socially responsible manner.

Please note that fees may be adjusted at any time

  • Graduates of an approved university with at least a Second-Class Honors degree, or who in the opinion of UWI, have an equivalent professional qualification;
  •  Possess between three to five years relevant management experience;
  •  Senior Managers or are earmarked for senior management or are seeking to switch careers paths;
  •  Capable of committing to a rigorous and flexible Nakeisha of study for personal development as a manager;
  •  Current permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, heads of departments/organization/institution and/or are deputy managers, experienced and inexperienced entrepreneurs.

 

Applicants considered for acceptance may be interviewed. Persons who do not meet academic or work experience requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
