Behavioural Insights for Public Policy

Registration is Open

Programme Overview

Turn insight into impact. Behavioural Insights helps policymakers and public leaders understand how people really think, decide, and act, then turn those insights into smarter policies that improve lives.

This interactive programme takes you beyond theory into real public-sector challenges. You will uncover the shortcuts and biases that shape behaviour and use proven tools from behavioural science to design interventions that drive meaningful change. From reshaping choice environments to framing information for clarity and action, you will see how small shifts can create big results.

You will learn to diagnose decision frictions and the moments that matter in citizen journeys, apply choice architecture and timely prompts that boost positive behaviours, craft messages that increase attention, trust, and follow-through, design quick low-cost experiments to find what works, and measure impact to scale successful interventions across programmes.

Programme Objectives

On successful completion of the programme, you will be able to:

  • Identify some key heuristics and biases that affect human behaviour, and recognise their applicability to a range of policy areas.
  • Describe the process by which target behaviours can be determined for a given policy challenge.
  • Assess some of the methods that can be used to diagnose the behavioural barriers and drivers to a target behaviour.
  • Use behavioural science frameworks to ideate solutions that address specific behavioural barriers and drivers.
  • Discuss the importance of rigorous testing of behavioural solutions.
  • Describe some of the approaches that can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of behavioural solutions prior to and following implementation.
