Ms. Melanie Straker

Administrative Assistant

Ms. Melanie Straker joined the University of the West Indies in May 2008 as a Stenographer Clerk.  She was promoted to Administrative Assistant, Centre for Professional Development and Lifelong Learning (CPDLL) in January 2019 where she oversees the day-to-day functions of the office. 

Ms. Straker is also the Administrative Assistant for the Student Entrepreneurial Empowerment Development Small Business Development Centre (SEED SBDC) where she assists the Co-ordinator with administrative functions such as preparation of course materials for the co-curricular course "COCR 2070-SEED".  A key part of her duties in this capacity is assisting with the UWI CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank Business Plan Competition.  She is also the Administrator for NeoSerra, the software which supports the SBDC.

Ms. Straker is committed to excellent customer service and goes above and beyond to assist students, entrepreneurs and the general public whenever possible.
