In 1999 the Institute merged with the Mona-based Consortium Graduate School of Social Sciences (CGSSS). SALISES has since been a social science research and graduate teaching operation, extending the legacies of both ISER and CGSSS.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThere are SALISES units located on three campuses of The UWI &#8211; Cave Hill in Barbados; Mona in Jamaica and St. Augustine in Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Institute is aligned to the Faculty of Social Sciences, is served by an Advisory Board and is administratively an affiliate entity of the Vice-Chancellery.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThe research fellows are published in broad areas of social science and development, their work appearing in reputable academic journals and major presses.&nbsp; They also act as policy advisors and consultants to several organisations in the Caribbean region and international agencies.
