Most student administrative offices (Admissions Office, Student Accounts, Records Office, Examinations Department, the Office of Graduate Studies & Research) normally operate from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
\nThe Office of Student Services & Development opens from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm while the Student Enrolment & Retention Unit opens from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.<\/p>\n

\n What is the First Year Experience (FYE)?<\/a><\/strong>\n <\/li>\n

FYE is a full semester of memorable out-of-classroom learning experiences, designed to smooth your transition into the university and set you up for success. During a series of weekly meetings you will get to know students from faculties and countries other than your own; engage in fun, interactive sessions; benefit from the mentorship of a dedicated team; and gain skills for success at Cave Hill and beyond. \n I am a Barbadian National and this is my first undergraduate degree. Do I have to pay fees?<\/a><\/strong>\n <\/li>\n

The Barbados Government pays Tuition Fees and Economic Cost for Barbadian Nationals pursuing their first government-funded undergraduate degree. There are a few self-funded programmes for which Barbadian students have to pay their own Tuition Fees, like the BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. All Barbadian students are required to pay their own University Registration Fees. <\/p>\n <\/div> \n \n \n
\n I am a Trinidadian National. How does GATE work?<\/a><\/strong>\n <\/li>\n
\n
Funding for nationals of Trinidad & Tobago is managed by Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses (GATE) and is means tested. Students should visit the website (http:\/\/www.e-gate.gov.tt\/gate-app\/<\/a>) or Call: 800-GATE or Email: gate.info@gov.tt <\/a>for further information on eligibility for GATE funding.<\/p>\n
Note that the amount paid on behalf of students under GATE will be based on the fees payable by a Trinidad and Tobago national for the equivalent programme at the St. Augustine Campus.<\/strong> Your student account will be updated to reflect GATE funding when the GATE application shows "CLEARANCE APPROVED."<\/p>\n

You can enter a Payment Plan<\/a> to pay your Programme Fees (Economic Cost & Tuition Fees) and\/or Hall Fees in monthly instalments, but you MUST meet your monthly commitments. <\/p>\n
University Fees must be paid before course registration can be completed. <\/p>\n

It is important that you attend your academic advising session during Registration Week and meet with an Academic Advisor.<\/p>\n
If you are unable to attend the session, you should contact your Faculty (Dean’s Office or Head of Department Office) for assistance in accessing an Academic Advisor.

\n How do I receive my UWI student ID card?<\/a><\/strong>\n <\/li>\n

During the registration period, information is disseminated on the procedure and time to collect the student ID card.

You should speak with your academic advisor. Every student is assigned to an academic advisor and should meet with the advisor at least once during the semester or Academic Year.

\nIf necessary, you may visit or contact the Dean’s Office or the Head of Department for assistance with contacting your academic advisor.<\/p>\n

\n I received a full-time offer, but I wish to register part-time. What do I do?<\/a><\/strong>\n <\/li>\n

You should meet with an Academic Advisor during the Registration period for guidance on the specific courses for which you wish to register.
\nNote <\/strong>that part-time is based on the number of courses for which you have registered. A part-time load is normally a registration of 3 or 2 courses.
\nAlso note<\/strong> that part-time does not<\/strong> mean that classes will be in the evening. Classes may be scheduled at any point during the day from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.

\n What is the difference between full-time and part-time?<\/a><\/strong>\n <\/li>\n
\n
A full-time student registers for four (4) or five (5) courses per semester while a part-time student registers for three (3) or two (2) courses per semester.
\n A full-time and a part-time student may have classes scheduled at any time during the day from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.
