Deadline | Call For Abstracts: Conference on Climate Justice and Social Justice

The UWI, Mona Campus, Jamaica, will be hosting a conference titled Climate Justice Now: Social Work at the Frontlines of Climate Change, Disasters, and Environmental Justice from 11 to 12 January 2027.
This conference will bring together an interdisciplinary group of practitioners, researchers, educators, students, policymakers, and activists to examine the critical intersection of climate change and social justice, with a particular focus on how these issues impact vulnerable populations.
The organisers invite abstract submissions that engage with core themes including:
- Climate justice and social work
- Disaster preparedness, response, and recovery
- Environmental racism, inequality, and structural justice
- Contributions that centre the experiences of communities most affected by environmental injustice, especially within the Caribbean and the Global South, are highly encouraged.
Submission and Key Dates:
- Interested contributors can submit abstracts for individual papers, panel presentations, interactive workshops, or posters.
- Submissions must be between 250 and 300 words and sent to mona-socialworkclimatejusticeconference@uwi.edu
- Deadline for abstract submission is 31 August 2026, authors will receive notifications of acceptance by 1 October 2026.
