Kerry Ann Ifill Unit
The Kerry Ann Ifill Unit was established to address the needs of students with disabilities. The Unit is located in the 24 HR Study Room. Students are encouraged to contact the User Services Desk before arriving to ensure that the Unit is available for use. The Unit can accommodate up to 4 persons and includes a table for group discussions. The Unit can be booked for use during examinations and for special sessions. Food and drink are not allowed.
Some of the special equipment acquired to support students include the following:
FOCUS 40 Blue Braille display
Gem Topaz XL Video Magnifier
Pearl portable reading camera
Ruby handheld video magnifier
Two Dell dimension computers with 24" monitors, Califone headsets and amplifiers. One unit has a large print keyboard. Both units are loaded with current Jaws software.
Screen magnification software

The Ruby and Pearl technologies have to be signed out for at the circulation desk
The equipment is available for use in accordance with the SML’s 24 Hour Reading Room opening hours.
