Engaging in professional development and lifelong learning opportunities at the CPDLL will provide delegates with a multiplicity of benefits:

The term ‘delegate’ refers to individuals who are attending a CPDLL short course or postgraduate module. Delegates of the Centre may also be referred to as ‘learners’, 'students', ‘applicants’, or ‘registrants’.

Delegates registered in a short course at the Centre will be given delegate status unless the individual already holds student status with the University.

CPDLL Delegates may not have access to all the facilities normally offered to students enrolled in degree bearing programmes of the Cave Hill Campus. The facilities available will depend on the course the delegate is registered in.
 

No, the UWI shuttle is not accessible to CPDLL delegates. Only CPDLL delegates who hold student status with the UWI Cave Hill Campus have access to the shuttle service.

On completion of the course persons shall receive a certificate. Certificates will be awarded as follows:

• Certificate of Completion

  • Awarded on successful completion of short courses which do not include formal assessment, but include some form of assessment. To be awarded a Certificate of Completion, participants must attend at least 85% of the sessions.

• Professional Development Certificate of Competence

  • Awarded on successful completion of short courses which are not at postgraduate level and which include formal assessment. To be awarded a Professional Development Certificate of Competence, participants must attend at least 85% of the sessions and must pass the formal assessment.  The passing grade that signifies competence will be determined by the course developer or subject area experts.

• Postgraduate Professional Development Certificate of Competence

  • Awarded on successful completion of short courses at the postgraduate level which include formal assessment. This certificate may also be awarded to a registered UWI postgraduate student if the course is outside of his/her normal programme of study.

  • To be eligible to register for a course at the postgraduate level, participants must satisfy the normal postgraduate entry requirements (http://www.cavehill.uwi.edu/gradstudies/future-students/application-steps/review-entry-requirements.aspx). Participants will be examined using the normal UWI postgraduate grading scheme, therefore to be awarded a Postgraduate Professional Development Certificate of Competence participants must successfully complete the coursework and examination components of the assessment.

  • A Certificate of Participation will be awarded to any participant who does not meet the minimum passing grade but who attended at least 85% of the sessions.

• Certificate Programme Designation

  • ?Delegates will be eligible to receive a certificate if they complete the number of courses specified by the Centre (e.g. Certificate in Strategic Marketing, Certificate in Fundamentals of Gaming Development). These certificates can consist solely of short courses, solely of postgraduate standalone modules or a combination of both.

No, CPDLL courses are open to the general public. Most of the courses are also open to UWI students, however, UWI students’ accounts must be in good standing in order for them to be able to register for a CPDLL course. 

Delegates must be at least sixteen (16) years old unless otherwise indicated in details of the specific short course. 
 

International applicants are welcome to participate in CPDLL courses, and may visit International page on the CPDLL website for relevant details.

Details of any entrance requirements for postgraduate modules offered as short courses via the CPDLL route are published on the specific course webpage. For entry into postgraduate modules, the applicant must have at least an undergraduate degree, or five (5) years relevant work experience, and may be asked to provide an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae.

The registration deadline for each course will vary per course, and will be specified on the respective course pages.

The only fee associated with the course is the cost of the course.
 

CANCELLATIONS

• The Centre for Professional Development and Lifelong Learning (CPDLL) reserves the right to make changes to any printed or online information on short courses, instructors or course information; or cancel any short course due to under-subscription or circumstances beyond its control.
• Delegates will be notified at least seven (7) days before the start of any course that has to be cancelled.
• Fees for short courses cancelled by the CPDLL will be refunded in full.
• The CPDLL will not be liable for any loss, damages or other expenses that result from course cancellations.

 
REFUNDS

• If you are no longer able to attend a specific course for which you have already registered and paid, please email the details to cpdll@cavehill.uwi.edu. 
• You may be eligible for a refund as per the schedule which follows:

• If you are unable to attend any specific course you can substitute another participant to take your place in the specific course without any additional charge.  Please email any change of participants at least 2 days ahead of the start of the specific course.

Persons who register for courses must pay all course fees at a minimum of seven (7) days before the start date of the course, or they will be deregistered from the course. (A notification via email will confirm de-registration due to non-payment of fees.)

Persons may enroll in the CPDLL months prior to the start of their course (s) of interest, and make payments to their account leading up to the start of the course (s).

This sum must be paid to The UWI, Cave Hill Campus prior to dispatch of the certificate.

On some courses, delegates will be provided with tools and materials to complete the course. However there are several courses where participants may be asked to buy their own tools and bring ingredients/materials. In these cases a material list will be specified.
 

The dates and times for each course are specified on the respective course pages. Sometimes there is more than one offering of the course. If dates and times are not listed for the course you selected, the course is not being offered in the current period. 
 

Delegates will not be permitted to re-sit any part of the assessment undertaken in the Centre’s short courses.
