The Centre for Professional Development and Lifelong Learning designed this suite of courses to provide business owners with an understanding of the intersection between Business, Government and Society within the online and offline environments in which they operate. Consumer Protection Training: The New Era of Consumer Protection…2019 and Beyond

Over the years, the need for consumer protection has increased due to factors such as rapid industrialization, revolution in Communication technology and globalization. However, many individuals are typically unaware of Consumer rights and therefore tend to exercise unfair practices in organizations. This course is designed to enable delegates to be able to detect, report, address and prevent fraudulent schemes relating to Consumer Protection. Delegates will therefore be provided with the relevant laws, rules, codes and standards relating to Consumer Protection in Barbados. Regulatory areas such as the Consumer Protection Act, the Sale of Goods Act, The Consumer Guarantees Act, The Hire Purchase Act and the Electronic Transaction Act will be discussed alongside key topics such as Product Liability, Digital Transactions, Misleading and Deceptive Conduct, and Unfair Trading Practices. The course will provide delegates with the practical knowledge they need to have in order to protect and safeguard their consumers’ rights.
