ACCA F5 – Performance Management


The syllabus for F5, Performance Management, builds on the knowledge gained in Paper F2, Management Accounting. It seeks to examine your understanding of how to manage the performance of a business. It also prepares you for  more specialist capabilities which are covered in P5 Advanced Performance Management.

What will I Learn?

On successful completion of the course, delegates will be able to:
  • Explain and apply cost accounting techniques;
  • Select and appropriately apply decision-making techniques to facilitate business decisions and promote efficient and effective use of scarce business resources, appreciating the risks and uncertainty inherent in business and controlling those risks;
  • Identify and apply appropriate budgeting techniques and methods for planning and control and use standard costing systems to measure and control business performance and to identify remedial action;
  • Identify and discuss performance management information and measurement systems;
  • Assess the performance of an organisation from both a financial and nonfinancial viewpoint.

Those who have an interest in obtaining an ACCA qualification and advancing in the area of accounting and finance.

The following topics will be addressed:
  • Specialist cost and management accounting techniques
  • Decision-making techniques 
  • Budgeting and control 
  • Performance measurement and control

The entry requirements for this course are as follows:
  • 2 passes at GCE A Level (grades A-E or 9-4) OR CAPE units at grade 1 – 4. Please note that 1 subject could contain more than one unit i.e. Unit 1 and/or Unit 2. Each component unit can be accepted as achieving 1 unit.
  • 3 subjects in Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) (General Proficiency Grades 1-3 from 1998; Grades 1 & 2 prior to 1998) OR 3 passes at GCE O Level (grade C or above). N.B. Passes must be held in English and Mathematics at the appropriate grades above at either O Level or CXC level.

This course will employ a blended learning format utilizing Face to Face teaching, alongside the Online Enhanced Classroom (ECR) tool. There will also be mock exams to help students prepare for the final ACCA examination.

Nicole Brathwaite

Ms. Brathwaite works as a Financial Consultant and is a Chartered Professional Accountant with more than thirteen years post-qualification experience. She currently holds a BSc. In Economics and Accounting and a Master of Business Administration., along with several professional accounting qualifications. Ms. Brathwaite also serves as a member of the ICAB’s Tax Committee and is proficient in major accounting and administration software.
