GENERAL INFORMATION


Period During Which Courses Are Offered

CPDLL will offer short courses and postgraduate standalone modules all year round. Some courses and customised training modules may also be offered throughout the year by special request, and where resources permit.



Enrollment and Fees
Persons will be able to enroll for their course(s) of interest online. Please visit the How to Enroll and Register page for more details.  

Fees may be paid online or at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus by:

  • Credit Cards - UWI accepts all major credit cards, except American Express
  • Cheques - only Managers’ Cheques and Certified Cheques are accepted
  • RBC Royal Bank of Canada online payment system *

  • Any branch of the Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited *

 
* Allow two (2) business days for processing to student account.

(Note that the Cave Hill Campus cannot negotiate notes/cheques issued in British Virgin Islands, Guyana, Jamaica, Bahamian or Trinidad & Tobago currency).

Registration will only be completed once the registrant has paid for the course in full. Persons who register for courses must pay the necessary fees at a minimum of seven (7) days before the start date of the course, or they will be deregistered from the course. (A notification via email will confirm de-registration due to non-payment of fees.)

Delegates will be notified at least seven (7) days before the start date of any course that has to be cancelled.

Fees for short courses cancelled by CPDLL will be refunded in full.

The CPDLL will not be liable for any loss, damage or other expenses that result from course cancellations.



CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

CANCELLATIONS

  • The Centre for Professional Development and Lifelong Learning (CPDLL) reserves the right to make changes to any printed or online information on short courses, instructors or course information; or cancel any short course due to under-subscription or circumstances beyond its control.
  • Delegates will be notified at least seven (7) days before the start of any course that has to be cancelled.
  • Fees for short courses cancelled by the CPDLL will be refunded in full.
  • The CPDLL will not be liable for any loss, damages or other expenses that result from course cancellations.
 
REFUNDS
  • If you are no longer able to attend a specific course for which you have already registered and paid, please email the details to cpdll@cavehill.uwi.edu
  • You may be eligible for a refund as per the schedule which follows:
Written notice of cancellation received by CPDLL Refund
 10 days or more before the start of the specific course  100% of course fees
   5 to 9 days before the start of the specific course    50% of course fees less a processing fee of minimum of $10   up to a maximum of 20% of the course fee, whichever is  greater.
   4 days or less before the start of the specific course  No refund
 
  • If you are unable to attend any specific course you can substitute another participant to take your place in the specific course without any additional charge.  Please email any change of participants at least 2 days ahead of the start of the specific course.


Eligibility
Many of the short courses will be available to a wide audience. Suitably-qualified participants will also be permitted to register for select postgraduate modules that are part of the well-established suite of Master’s programmes at the Cave Hill Campus. 



Schedule
Most short courses will be held weekdays between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm, while other courses are scheduled for delivery during the day (including Saturday).
Some short courses are scheduled on consecutive days, some once a week and some two (2) to four (4) days a week. 



Class Size
Depending on the subject area classes can range from 12 to 40 participants.



Duration
Short courses can be as short as half (1/2) a day and as long as sixteen (16) weeks. Details on the duration of each short course can be found on the respective course pages.



Minimum Age For Registration
Participants must be at least sixteen (16) years old unless otherwise indicated in details of the specific short course.



International Delegates
Please visit our International page or the website of the Barbados Immigration Department http://www.immigration.gov.bb/ to get details of documentation you need to provide to enter Barbados to participate in these courses.
