This course will introduce important approaches to technology innovation and key ICT innovation trends will be examined. Furthermore, students will be introduced to innovation concepts and terminology, and they will learn how to evaluate new ideas based on their innovative value, feasibility and viability. Topics to be covered include new and emerging technologies, ICT innovation management, ICT innovation systems, ICT innovation strategies, and ICT and change.

Innovation is a critical determinant of organisational performance, and thus it is essential for companies to incorporate new innovative systems and information technologies to facilitate successful business operations, planning and development. This is especially true in the ever-changing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) environment. This course will introduce students to new and emerging technologies used in today’s technological world. Furthermore, it will illustrate the ways in which these technologies have revolutionised how businesses are able to capitalise on ICTs within their organisations. Moreover, the course will also introduce students to important approaches to technology innovation and will examine key ICT innovation trends.
