Overview

In today’s ever-changing environment, Human Resource Development (HRD) is more important than ever. For those organizations seeking not only to survive, but to maximize operational effectiveness, and succeed in this fast-paced, highly dynamic, and increasingly global economy, the development of their most important asset (their employees) must be a key task in their organizational strategy. This course will introduce delegates to the principles and concepts related to HRD in organizations. We will explore how globalization is impacting on the ways we develop our people in organizations and the current trends in the field of HRD. Special emphasis will be on challenges facing Caribbean managers and explore possible solutions to problems.

  • Explain the strategic relevance of HRD;
  • Conduct basic training needs assessments;

  • Establish a foundation for new and innovative approaches to training in a business.

 

Who Should do this Course

Individuals who meet the entry requirements for postgraduate level training, including human resource professionals who want to understand and utilize the techniques of training needs assessment and programme planning, conduct basic training needs assessments, effectively manage change and review training and development policies.

  • Applicants must bring all required documentation to the Department of Management Studies, Graduate Section, for their application to be processed.
  • Individuals applying for postgraduate modules, whose native language is not English, must take tests,  to demonstrate English Language proficiency prior to registration, as identified in the Manual of Procedures re: Regulations for Graduate Diplomas and Degrees (Sec. 1, Para. 5).

For entry into this course, applicants must have at least an undergraduate degree, or five (5) years relevant work experience. Applicants may also be asked to provide an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae.

Our facilitation is based on principles of adult learning and as such, acknowledges that participants come with a wealth of knowledge, skills and abilities related to work, and also personal experiences. Interactive discussions and creative thinking will be encouraged, and case studies and oral presentations will be incorporated in the course delivery.
