As a Senior Lecturer in Law and the Dean of the Faculty of Law at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Dr. Hippolyte dedicates his career to bridging complex academic theory with the practical regulatory demands of developing states. To enrich his established expertise in International Economic Governance, particularly in International Investment Law, he is strategically integrating International Aviation Law and Caribbean Hospitality and Tourism Law into his research portfolio. This intentional broadening reflects the deeply interconnected nature of our globalized economy, particularly within the Caribbean region where foreign direct investment, transnational transit, and local tourism infrastructure heavily drive sustainable economic development. By layering these specialized regulatory disciplines over his robust foundation in international economic governance, he addresses the unique legal challenges facing developing countries in the Caribbean. His multidisciplinary approach explores how international capital, global transit systems, and regional tourism frameworks interact. Ultimately, this integrated knowledge empowers him to deliver cutting-edge legal insights that safeguard regional interests, shape forward-thinking policies, and effectively train the next generation of legal professionals equipped to navigate both globalized and region-specific commercial landscapes.

Research Areas

Dr. Hippolyte has research interest in International Economic Law and Governance. Most of his work examines how developing countries participate in the international economic system. His research, so far, has focused on the participation of these countries in international investment law, specifically investor-state arbitration; international trade law; international tax law, international environmental law etc. Some of his work has been used as teaching material at various universities globally. He is also in the process of integrating international aviation law and Caribbean Hospitality and Tourism Law into his research profile
