
Dr. Adetutu Deborah Aina-Pelemo is a legal scholar and Lecturer in Law at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, where she serves as Deputy Dean for Graduate Studies and Research (2025–2026). She holds a PhD in Labour Relations and Industrial Law from Sharda University in India, an LLM in Common Law from the University of Ilorin, and professional legal qualifications from the Nigerian Law School.
A specialist in sexual harassment law, gender studies, labour and industrial relations, constitutional law, and intellectual property, Dr. Aina-Pelemo has built an extensive academic and professional career across Nigeria, India, The Gambia, and Barbados. Before joining UWI, she served as Associate Professor and Acting Head of the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law at Redeemer’s University, Nigeria, where she also led major curriculum reviews and served as Editor-in-Chief of the university’s jurisprudence journal.
She has published over fifty peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in reputable SCOPUS-indexed journals and is co-author of Sexual Harassment and the Law (2020). Her work critically examines gender inequality, workplace discrimination, constitutional development, and digital-era intellectual property issues. Dr. Aina-Pelemo is widely recognized for her contributions to research, earning fellowships from the World Bank Group, the Maria Sibylla Merian Institute for Advanced Studies in Africa (MIASA), and the Nigerian University Commission.
A licensed Barrister-at-Law, Notary Public, and Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), she has also practiced extensively as a legal counsel, arbitrator, and law firm partner. Beyond academia, she actively engages in public education on sexual harassment through presentations, community outreach, and her educational YouTube channel.
