{"id":9,"date":"2025-07-15T19:40:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-15T23:40:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/hr\/services\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T14:12:49","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T18:12:49","slug":"services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/hr\/services\/","title":{"rendered":"Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"container-fluid page-wrapper site-font\">\n<section>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h1 class=\"page-header\">Functions of The Human Resources Section   <\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"faculty-content-page\">\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/Images\/Hero-Images\/Hero-image-HR-2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The main functions of the HR Section are:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<ul>\n<li>Recruitment and Hire<\/li>\n<li>Leave Administration<\/li>\n<li>Staff Assessment and Evaluation<\/li>\n<li>Benefits and Conditions of Service<\/li>\n<li>Staff Training and Development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h2>Recruitment and Hire<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Human Resources Section assists faculties, departments, units and centres in conducting searches to attract, select and retain appropriately qualified staff in keeping with our vision to make the University of the West Indies the employer of first choice.<br \/>\nSome of the recruiting and employment related services we offer include:<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<ul>\n<li>Updating job opportunities on the Human Resources Website;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<ul>\n<li>Assisting and advising faculties\/departments in meeting short and long-term staffing needs through communication with job advertising and recruiting sources;<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring compliance with all recruitment and employment related university Human Resources policies and procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h2>Leave Administration<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>We assist and advise individual staff members with their queries about the several types of leave available and guide them on eligibility and application.Types of Leave&nbsp; include:<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<ul>\n<li>Annual Leave<\/li>\n<li>Full Study Leave<\/li>\n<li>Vacation leave<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h2>Staff Assessment and Evaluation<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>We assist and guide our Deans, Heads of Department and members of staff through the assessment, evaluation and promotion exercise while ensuring compliance with the provisions as set out in Ordinance No.8.&nbsp; These regulations govern promotions to the higher grades.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h2>\nBenefits and Conditions of Service<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<p>The Human Resources Section, in conjunction with the Bursary, administers the compensation and benefits plans of the Cave Hill Campus and provides employees with support, advice and information about the benefits offered by the University.
