Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Veterinary Anatomy (Gross Anatomy)

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess at minimum from a recognised university:

  • a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent

         AND

  • a PhD in Veterinary Anatomy, with special expertise/concentration in Gross Anatomy or closely related field

 

Candidates should also possess:

  • At least three (3) years tertiary-level teaching experience in Veterinary Anatomy
  • A substantial record of relevant research and publications in reputable, peer reviewed journals
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver laboratory/practical instruction (e.g., Prosection, Osteology, Plastination, Histology labs) and to effectively assess student performance

 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

  • Experience teaching across multiple subdisciplines: Gross Anatomy, Microscopic Anatomy/Histology, Embryology, and Applied/Clinical Anatomy
  • Experience facilitating Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and small-group interactive teaching
  • A proven record of collaborative, interdisciplinary research
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment design for Veterinary Medicine programmes
  • Demonstrated success in supervising Anatomy and Histology teaching laboratories, including training and managing demonstrator teams
  • Evidence of creative output such as successful research grants, educational resources, or innovation in teaching methods

 

The following would be considered assets:

  • Training/Certification in university teaching and learning
  • Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision
  • Clinical experience that enhances teaching in applied and comparative anatomy
  • Experience organising workshops or continuing education programmes in anatomy or related areas
  • Competence in anatomy museum techniques and specimen preparation (e.g. Osteology, Plastination, Wet Collections)
  • Competence in teaching related basic science areas beyond main expertise
