{"id":70,"date":"2020-07-30T12:38:49","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T11:38:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/gradstudies\/review-your-enrollment-options\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T09:26:46","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T13:26:46","slug":"review-your-enrollment-options","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/gradstudies\/apply-now\/review-your-enrollment-options\/","title":{"rendered":"Review Your Enrollment Options"},"content":{"rendered":"<section>\n<div class=\"container-fluid\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h1 class=\"page-header\">Review Your Enrollment Options <\/h1>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/Images\/Scholarship-and-Funding\/enrollment.jpg\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tBefore applying here are a few things you need to know\/consider:<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Full time OR Part time:<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n\t\t\t\t\tYou need to decide whether you will attend as a full-time student or a part-time student.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tA student who is employed for twelve (12) hours per week or less can enroll as full time while a student employed for more than twelve (12) hours per week must register as part-time.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tMost of the taught Masters programmes are delivered after 5 pm and the determination of full or part time is not tied to time of day but to course load. Note that some programmes are full time only therefore you will need to speak to the Programme Coordinator to determine if the programme can be done if you have a job.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tNormally students on Scholarship must be registered and attend as full-time students. If you have a scholarship the letter issued will indicate whether this applies to you.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Research Students<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">All applicants to research programmes must contact the Faculty \/ Department directly with their research proposal before submitting an application.&nbsp; This is necessary to first determine whether current resources exist in the department to support your research.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tYou should use the websites of the relevant Faculties to get contact information and research areas of academic staff members.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tResearch Students who are employed as Teaching Assistants or Research Assistants in their area of research and working for up to twenty (20) hours per week can register as full-time students.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Specially Admitted Student<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">Persons who meet the postgraduate entry requirements who wish to pursue or develop a particular area of intellectual interest without committing to a full degree programme can apply as a&nbsp;<em>Specially Admitted Student<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tA Specially Admitted Student can take a maximum of 12 credits per semester and a total of 24 credits under this enrollment option. Specially Admitted students are expected to take the examinations in the courses into which they have been accepted.&nbsp; Space for Specially Admitted Students is limited and is on a first-come first-served basis.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tApplication for Special Admission is done by paper application <strong>ONLY<\/strong> and are <a href=\"\n\t\t\t\t\thttps:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/gradstudies\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/Resources\/Forms-Applicants\/Application_exchange_specialadmission.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">available here.<\/a>.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Occasional Student<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n\t\t\t\t\tIf you are eligible to matriculate at postgraduate level however you only wish to audit courses without being examined you should apply as an&nbsp;<em>Occasional Student<\/em>. Fees for Occasional students are calculated on a per-credit basis, according to the type of programme and the Faculty in which it falls.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tApplication for Admission as an Occasional Student is done by paper application <strong>ONLY<\/strong> and are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/Resources\/Forms-Applicants\/Application_exchange_specialadmission.pdf\">available here<\/a>.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Exchange Student<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\"><em>Exchange students<\/em>&nbsp;are permitted entry through arrangements with the Campus International Office.&nbsp; Visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/international\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.cavehill.uwi.edu\/international\/<\/a>&nbsp;for full details.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>Qualifying Student<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\" editable=\"rich\">\n\t\t\t\t\tAfter a review of your transcript, you may be offered a place as&nbsp;<em>Qualifying Student<\/em>&nbsp;and be required to take qualifying courses and write examinations in these before being admitted to the degree programme to which you have applied.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tYour offer letter will clearly state all necessary information.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Review Your Enrollment Options Before applying here are a few things you need to know\/consider: Full time OR Part time: You need to decide whether you will attend as a full-time student or a part-time student.
