The Scholarship is tenable only at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies. It is open to nationals of the contributing territories of the University of the West Indies who have been accepted into the current academic year to pursue full - time or part- time studies in an MPhil or Ph.D. Programme at The UWI, Cave Hill Campus. Applicants for this Scholarship should normally have, as a minimum, a Lower Second Class Honours Degree.
The Scholarship is tenable for two (2) years with the possibility of extension based on good academic performance.The Scholarship holder is required to contribute time ( research, lab, tutorials) each semester semester towards the work of the Cave Hill Campus, using their area of academic expertise. This contributory time must be pre-approved by the supervisor and Department Head.

WRITING THE RESEARCH PROPOSAL: Your research proposal
( no more than 3,000 words, 1.5 spaced and justified) should contain the following:
- Proposed title of research
- Proposed research supervisor ( you should review the profile of lecturers in your chosen field on the www.cavehill.uwi.edu website
- Background to your study ( using academic literature sources)
- Aims and objectives of study
- Proposed research question(s) or hypothesis
- Proposed methodology
- Expected research outcomes and contribution
- Work plan to completion
- Reference list
