One of the strategic aims of the University of the West Indies is to become an internationally recognized Center for Excellence for postgraduate education, especially respected and sought after for:
- The delivery of first rate postgraduate programmes
- Its pre-eminence in Caribbean scholarship, and
- Its output of higher degree graduates who are at the cutting edge of contemporary scholarship, clinical skills, professional development and expertise.
In this context, the University offers a variety of programmes that lead to Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degrees. These programmes are administered by the University’s School for Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR).
The Graduate Studies and Research offices at the Cave Hill Campus are currently located at Paradise Park (Lazaretto), Black Rock, St. Michael, opposite the Archives Department.
We operate an “open door” policy during the office hours: 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and have responsibility for the administration of all postgraduate programmes at the Cave Hill Campus including:
- Applications
- Admission
- Registration
- Scholarships
- Examinations (Oral, Written, Project, Research Paper and Thesis)
Student Charter
The UWI Cave Hill Campus Student Charter outlines the nature of the student experience that we aim to enhance, and how students and staff collaborate to achieve the highest quality. It underscores how our joint effort is aimed at producing graduates who are critical thinkers, qualified to take up employment in fields of their choice; well-rounded; and advocates of knowledge formation and the role of the University.
