Bio

Darren Carter is an aspiring development practitioner with a keen interest in policy-making, agrarian development and development research. In 2017, Mr. Carter worked closely with members of the Commonwealth Secretariat on their workshop “Commonwealth Women in Political Leadership”. He also worked alongside the Institute for Gender and Development Studies Nita Barrow Unit on the grounding of the “Livity Project”. Graduating with his Bachelors in Sociology with Gender and Development Studies in 2018, Mr. Carter went on to pursue his Masters in Development Studies, securing a distinction in his dissertation and an overall merit classification in his degree from SOAS University of London. Darren is also a lover of Taekwondo and is an Assistant Coach at William’s Taekwondo Club. He has also represented Barbados at the international level in this capacity.
