Science Writers Initiative

As part of our FST Faculty's Science Popularization program, we have started a FST Science Writers Initiative for the students in our FST Faculty. In this initiative, a theme will be provided around which the creative writing skills of our students will be applied. Selected submissions will then be displayed on our Faculty website, for four (4) weeks, and all submissions will be archived on our website afterwards. A new theme will be offered every two (2) months.
The Submissions can be a non-fiction essay (1000 words maximum), a short science fiction story (1000 words maximum), a poem (500 words maximum), an audio clip (2 minutes maximum) or a video (1 minute maximum), and they will all be placed on our Faculty’s website and our FST social media pages.
Note also that all submissions will be vetted first by our Faculty before they are accepted and posted on our FST website and social media pages.
All submissions must also be the students' original creation.
The first theme is “BAJ2048: Barbados and the Region in the Year 2048, based on the question: "What fundamental changes do you believe will take place in Barbados and the Region due to advances in STEM (i.e., Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)?"
All submissions must be submitted to Dr. Colin Depradine at and Ms. Lisa-Ann Rollins at by August 19, 2019.
We look forward to receiving those wonderful submissions from our students!
