Innovation and Entrepreneurship Day

The FST Innovation and Entrepreneurship day celebrates local and regional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) initiatives with a specific focus on entrepreneurship and innovation. Originally called NERD Day, this is an annual event hosted by our Faculty during the month of February.
On that day, a student is awarded the Faculty Innovation award for the most innovative project, solution or initiative.
The objectives of the day are:
  1. To expose the students of our Faculty to STEM-based innovation and entrepreneurship within the Faculty, locally, regionally and internationally;
  2. To highlight the applied science research of the Faculty;
  3. To highlight the entrepreneurial efforts of the Faculty;
  4. To highlight the student clubs and associations of the Faculty;
  5. To provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their applied research;
  6. To encourage students to see STEM-based entrepreneurship as a viable career;
  7. To deepen the relationship between the Faculty and the Private sector;
  8. To promote the need for STEM-based entrepreneurship; and
  9. To highlight graduates of the Faculty who have started their own STEM-based businesses.
Photos and other information about past NERD Days can be found on our Faculty's Instagram (@nerdatfst or and Facebook (/nerdatfst or social media pages.
