Faculty of Science and Technology


"NERD Day", which is an annual event hosted by our FST Faculty during the month of February, was officially rebranded as the "Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Day" in 2020. It is now the official day to celebrate our Faculty’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics)-based innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.
The objectives of the day are: 
  1. To expose the students of our Faculty to STEM-based innovation and entrepreneurship within the Faculty, locally, regionally and internationally;
  2. To highlight the applied science research of the Faculty;
  3. To highlight the entrepreneurial efforts of the Faculty;
  4. To highlight the student clubs and associations of the Faculty;
  5. To provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their applied research;
  6. To encourage students to see STEM-based entrepreneurship as a viable career;
  7. To deepen the relationship between the Faculty and the Private sector;
  8. To promote the need for STEM-based entrepreneurship; and
  9. To highlight graduates of the Faculty who have started their own STEM-based businesses.
The third NERD Day (NERD Day 3.0) event was held on Friday, February 28, 2020 in the 3W's Pavilion at The UWI - Cave Hill Campus from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. The theme for the event was “Striving for Innovation and Entrepreneurship through STEM.
