At FST, students requesting accommodations are paired with Special Advisors - academic staff who serve as both Academic Advisors and accommodation liaisons. These advisors help ensure:
Students’ accommodation needs are properly communicated and met.
Departments are informed and equipped to provide the necessary support.
The Dean’s Office can monitor the accommodation process effectively.
Communicate accommodation details to the Dean.
Collaborate with students to ensure accommodations are working effectively.
Assist faculty and staff in fulfilling accommodation needs.
Report unresolved issues to the Dean for further action.
Voluntary: Students may request accommodations at any time during their studies.
Confidential: All requests are handled discreetly within the Faculty.
All formal accommodation requests must be submitted through the Dean, following the Campus’s established procedures.
If students approach other staff members first, they will be referred to the Dean to maintain proper protocol.
Academic and administrative staff will use Campus-approved guidelines when implementing accommodations.
Any unclear or exceptional cases will be escalated to the Dean, who will liaise with the relevant Campus Office.
Students are also encouraged to join the UWI Cave Hill Association for Persons with Disabilities (UWICAPD) - a student-led organization under the Guild of Students. Membership is open to all, but students with disabilities are especially encouraged to participate, fostering a supportive, inclusive community on campus.
Empowering all students to thrive - together, we create an accessible and inclusive learning environment.
