Our Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at The University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus recently bid a heartfelt farewell to three (3) of our dedicated FST staff members, marking the end of their exemplary careers with memorable retirement functions.



On April 30, 2024, the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics (CMP) hosted a touching retirement function for Ms. Geniveve Harris in the 3Ws Pavilion at The UWI Cave Hill Campus. Ms. Harris, who served as a Stenographer Clerk Grade 1 in the CMP Department, after commencing your career at The UWI Cave Hill Campus from 1998, was celebrated for her 26 years of unwavering commitment and exceptional service. Our colleagues shared warm memories and expressed deep appreciation for her dedication and hard work, making the event an unforgettable tribute to her remarkable tenure.



The celebrations continued on May 29, 2024, with a joint retirement function held for Mr. Grantley Forde and Mr. Jeff Chandler, hosted by the FST Faculty Office in collaboration with the Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences (BCS), also held in the 3Ws Pavilion at The UWI Cave Hill Campus. Mr. Chandler, a Senior Laboratory Technician, has been a pillar of the BCS Department, after commencing his work journey at The UWI Cave Hill Campus back in September 1990. His 34 years of service have left an indelible mark on the Faculty, and his expertise and mentorship will be greatly missed. Mr. Forde, who joined the FST Faculty Office in June 2009 as a Senior Mechanical Technician, was lauded for his 15 years of dedicated service and invaluable contributions to the Faculty.



The retirement functions were filled with heartfelt speeches, shared memories, and expressions of gratitude, highlighting the significant impact these wonderful individuals have had on our colleagues and the University community during their respective tenures. Their legacies of hard work, commitment and excellence will continue to inspire future generations.



As we celebrate the retirements of Ms. Geniveve Harris, Mr. Grantley Forde and Mr. Jeff Chandler, we extend our warmest wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement to each of them. May they enjoy many more years of health, happiness and new adventures beyond their illustrious careers with our FST Faculty at The UWI Cave Hill Campus.
