height: 411px; float: left; margin: 5px 25px;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"lc-block\">\n<div editable=\"rich\">\n<h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAreas of Specialization<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tourism Economics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>International Trade<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Background<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTroy Lorde is the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Professor of Tourism Economics at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. &nbsp;He earned the BSc Economics and Accounting at the UWI (First Class Hons.); MA Economics at York University, Canada; and, PhD in Tourism Economics at the University of Surrey, UK.&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTeaching<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tProfessor Lorde has taught many courses over the years at the undergraduate and graduate levels.&nbsp; He has supervised one PhD student to completion and is chief supervisor and advisory committee member of several MPhil and PhD students.&nbsp; His teaching and mentoring has been recognised by the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and the Guild of Students for <em>Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning<\/em> and by the Faculty of Social Sciences for<em> Recognition of Leadership and Mentoring<\/em>.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<h3>Research and Publications<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tProfessor Lorde has published 46 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 9 book chapters and monographs, and presented at 47 conferences.&nbsp; He has also prepared 7 technical reports.&nbsp; Professor Lorde has received a number of research grants and awards from The UWI, including the prestigious <em>Principal\u2019s Award for Excellence in Research<\/em>, the <em>Campus Award for Best Collaborative Research<\/em> and<em> Campus Award for in Recognition of Researchers\/Research Teams who have won Significant Funding<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<h3>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<h3>Service to the University<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tProfessor Lorde serves on several committees at The UWI, among them, as Representative of Finance and General Purposes Committee on the Bookshop Committee; Representative of Finance and General Purposes Committee on the Advisory Committee, Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination (EBCCI); and, Member of Implementation and Programme Development Committee for the Faculty of Culture, Creative and Performing Arts.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<h3>Public Service<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tProfessor Lorde currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the Agricultural Development Fund in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and as Member of the Minimum Wage Board in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security Relations.&nbsp; He is a Member of the Conference of the Latin American Network for Research on Services (REDLAS) Academic Committee, a member of the International Association of Tourism Economics and formerly a member of the Commonwealth Specialist Pool of Consultants on Small States and Climate Finance.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Troy Lorde Areas of Specialization &nbsp;
