The Department of Management Studies (DOMS) at the Cave Hill Campus was established in May 1983 and grew out of the Unit of Administration and Accounting which came into being in February 1980. Similar, but much older Departments of Management Studies are located at the St. Augustine and Mona campuses and all three departments share common courses and examinations. Here at DOMS, we provide an environment conducive to develop independent learning and thought, critical thinking and analytical skills, which will allow students to be able to apply what they learn to real life business scenarios. Our programmes are designed for students to get the best possible potential out of their careers. Our aim is to prepare tomorrow’s business leaders.
This Department offers B.Sc. degrees in Accounting, Accounting & Finance, Hotel Management, Management, and Management with Concentrations in Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, International Business, Public Sector Management, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Management with French, Spanish or Psychology. The Department also offers the B.Sc. Hospitality & Tourism Management (in collaboration with the Barbados Community College). The BSc in Sports Sciences will be introduced from this coming academic year.
At the graduate level, the Department offers M.Sc. degrees in Construction Management, Project Management & Evaluation, International Management, Investment & Wealth Management, Management, Management with specializations in Human Resources Management, Marketing, Finance and International Management, as well as Tourism and Hospitality Management, Tourism and Sport Management, Tourism and Events Management, Tourism Marketing, Tourism with Project Management. The M.Sc. in Sports Sciences will be introduced this academic year.
The Department also offers MPhil/PhD programmes. As a postgraduate researcher, you will join an environment that has a strong research focus as you work with staff in a number of research units within the Department. The focus here is to have research training, publish academically, and play an important role in the advancement of knowledge.
