Bio

Dr Gaur joined the Preclinical Department at Cave Hill Campus as a Senior Lecturer with a primary focus on imparting knowledge in the field of Human Anatomy. She served as Phase 1 Coordinator from 2014 to 2016. Before her tenure at the Cave Hill Campus, she was a Professor at Lady Hardinge Medical College in Delhi, India. Her academic journey began with premedical studies with Botany (Hon) from Miranda House, Delhi. Subsequently, she pursued a degree in Medicine (MBBS) and a Master of Surgery (MS) from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi. In the initial phase of her career, she served as a house officer in Surgery, accumulating valuable experience, and later worked for several years in the same capacity in General Surgery.

Continuing her professional journey, she received a fellowship in Clinical Genetics from the World Health Organization (WHO).  Additionally, she earned a Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning from UWI and hands-on training in Research Methodology in Reproductive Medicine from NIHAFW, India. Dr Gaur has contributed to various scholarly publications, authored books, and supervised numerous postgraduates' theses. Dr Gaur is the recipient of the Dean's Special Appreciation Award for exceptional support of the Preclinical Teaching initiative at The University of the West Indies. Additionally, she was honoured with several appreciation awards from the Medical Students' Association (MSA).

Dr Gaur has occupied diverse academic roles, including membership in the "Campus Health and Wellness Committee," involvement in the Finances and General Purposes Committee and served as a member of the National Task Force for Wellness in Barbados, appointed by the Ministry of Health, a position he held for three years, concluding in 2021.  She additionally served as an Internal Academic Member during the Quality Assurance Unit review held at the UWI St Augustine campus.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Gaur instructs individuals in yoga and Reiki Healing techniques as a means of reducing stress and anxiety in his students

Research Areas

Dr Gaur’s major research interest lies in medical education and the morphological study of the musculoskeletal system and cadavers. I have published research articles on these topics in indexed journals. 

1. Morphometric assessment of adult dry human scapula: Factor responsible for Etiopathogenesis of SSNES.

2.  A comparative study to assess the Level of knowledge and preventable risk factors about congenital malformation among the pregnant mothers in India and Barbados.

3. Morphological Variation in the Pancreatic Ductal System: A Cadaveric Study
